Why this happens (and what you can do about it)
Does this sound familiar? You put a lot of effort into your UV nail wraps – everything is perfectly applied, beautifully shiny... and then, a day or two later, they start to peel off. Super annoying, right?
But don't worry: usually, it's not the wraps themselves, but something very common – grease. ?

Nails that are too oily – the most common culprit
Our nails are sometimes just a little too "care-friendly." ?
If you've used hand cream shortly before application or if there are still remnants of nail oil, the wrap won't adhere properly.
Even tiny amounts of grease are enough for it to loosen later.
? So: before applying, be sure to degrease thoroughly – preferably with a cleaner or dish soap without conditioning agents. Afterwards, dry your nails and nail bed very well (including underneath). Because even moisture can affect the durability of the wraps.
And after that: don't touch your nails anymore before applying the wraps! Also, make sure your fingertips are degreased, because you're pressing the wraps down with them, right?
A classic from real life:
Recently, a friend told me she had put on beautiful new wraps – everything looked perfect.
Then she baked a cake. With a lot of butter. And kneaded the dough thoroughly with her fingers??
And what happened next?
Exactly – all the wraps were gone!
The fat from the dough got onto her nails and dissolved the adhesive layer.
The wraps didn't stand a chance. ?
Why oil is the enemy of your wraps
Fun fact (or rather, not-so-fun ?): UV nail wraps can be removed with oil. But that also means: as soon as oil gets under the wrap, it starts to peel. That's why you shouldn't use nail oil for care after application – even if it's tempting. Nail creams or nail butter are better, because they are thicker and tend to stay on the skin instead of creeping under the wrap.
Nail facts you should know ?
But it is said that you can only remove the foils by lifting the edges with the rosewood stick. Correct! But a nail is not a rigid plate - it is flexible!
It bends, it stretches, and hot water (e.g. when showering or washing dishes) softens it.
This is completely normal – but this is exactly when the foil can lift minimally. Sometimes not even recognizable by the eye.
And what if grease or oil penetrates?
? Right – the foil comes off.
Sometimes only slightly, sometimes it simply falls off completely. This can happen, but doesn't have to. For many Manifix customers, the foil also holds if they use oil. Because the condition of your nails is crucial. Just like some women have super dry hair, others have no problems washing their hair with shower gel.
How to keep your wraps rock-solid
To prevent this from happening, here are all the tips again:
• Preparation: Clean, degrease, and dry nails thoroughly.
• After application: Don't touch anything greasy for at least 1 hour.
• Care: Use nail creams instead of nail oil.
• Protection: Wear gloves when cooking, baking, or cleaning with hot water.
• Patience: Only use oil-containing products again when you want to remove the wraps.
So: if your wraps "flee" again – first check if butter, cream, hair masks, or oil-containing products were involved.
Then you'll know next time why it happened – and your manicure will stay perfect for days! ?
